Chemical peel techniques are used to exfoliate your skin by removing dead skin and revealing a fresh new layer that has a smoother texture, and is less wrinkled.
The most common uses of chemical peels are:
- Improved look and feel of skin
- Acne treatment
- Reduced age spots, discolorations, and freckles
- Reduced appearance of wrinkles caused by sun damage or aging
Chemical peels may be used on the face, neck, or hands. You should expect moderate discomfort, and redness for up to 3 days after the procedure.
Because chemical peels can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight, you are encouraged to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher when venturing outdoors after a procedure.
